Jill Johansen replies: "Well that’s just how carousel animals work... They’re posed in active poses, but are mounted on poles. the pole is not behind it, it’s rammed right through the middle. This is not really intended to represent a LIVE animal. It’s a painting of a (imaginary) sculpture. I can’t really think of many carousels I’ve seen where the animals were mounted in standing poses. I mean, occasionally, but as a general rule...." | |
